The chirinquitos, or beach bars as it is, are a special experience on summer holidays in Javea. From may till september theyre built as temporary little bars located right by on the seafront on the stretch of rocky beach that leads from the Arenal to the port.
The chirinquitos are easily missed if you spend the entire vacation on the arenals sandy beach, but indeed theyre within walking distance and an extra little treat you shouldnt miss. Its heaven to sit in the comfortable outdoor seating as the sun sets, admiring the view of the mediterrenean, listening to the soft waves largely landing at your feet and enjoying a pina colada or smoothie as darkness falls.
Closest to the Arenal you will find one of the most popular Chirinquitos, Mintt. Quite an effort is made to surround this Javea beach bar with little props, palms and comfortable sea view seating to make for an atmospherical, yet simple, setup. Mintt serves light meal and a wide range of drinks for your stay. The caesar salad is delicious and the burgers are nice and tasty. Throughout the summer Mintt has little events happening at the beach bar such as special fiestas, big screen showing of important football games, live jazz concerts and other music performances. For chilly nights or in windy conditions the staff will put on outdoor heaters and hand out blankets, so youre pretty much guaranteed a warm and pleasant stay at Mintt.
Towards the opposite end of the stretch, right before you get to the Javea port you´ll find another commendable chirinquito called Mosquito. Dont worry. The area isnt actually plagued by mosquito. To the contrary its blessed with hot summer evenings, amazing sea views and a lovely atmosphere created by very well thought out surroundings giving this particular chirinquito a special vibe, upheld by always friendly staff. Mosquito features a true avalanche of exciting events and fiestas throughout the summer. Theres family days with face painting for the kids, bouncy castles and special kids entertainers. The odd horror night brings splatter movie nightmares to the sea front with plenty of people dressed up. Regular salsa nights, fashion shows and live music performances ensures that Mosquito will cater for you with some form of fiesta entertainment largely whichever week you choose for your Javea holiday.
In between Mosquito and Mintt residing at each end of the stretch theres a variety of other chiringquitos such as Diablo and the more permanent structure of Montgo Di Bongo. Each and every one of these Xabia chirinquitos are worth spending an afternoon or evening at with their charming locations and good vibes.
Grab your family or friends and show them a good time at one of the Javea beach bars. Our preference would be Mintt or Mosquito but they all do a great job. It might just end up the highlight of your Javea holidays !
